The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus have stirred headlines in recent weeks—not just for frontman Ronnie Winter’s outspoken social media presence, but now for a timely and emotionally charged new single titled “Slipping Through (No Kings).” The track arrives with a video and an urgent message that tackles themes of community, immigration, and national identity.

The single was co-written with producer Matt Squire and, according to Winter, was born out of growing frustration with the social and political climate in his own neighborhood.

“To put it simply, my neighbors are disappearing,” he explained. “Families are being torn apart… They’re not immigrants to us, they’re neighbors. And like Jesus said, ‘Love thy neighbor.’ That’s what this song is about.”

The timing of the track couldn’t be more charged. In early June, Winter drew attention online after a video surfaced in which he stated that Trump supporters were no longer welcome at the band’s shows. The bold statement quickly went viral—prompting both backlash and praise—and led to a series of follow-up livestreams in which Winter clarified the remarks.

What initially seemed like a political declaration was later described by the vocalist as a “charade” intended to highlight his ongoing disillusionment with organized Christianity.

.“This is what it looks like when somebody is so desperate to reach the lost that they will literally do anything to be heard,” he admitted in a later video, citing a personal rift with a religious family member as part of what inspired the stunt.

He also directly addressed fans who felt targeted by his words:

“I’m protecting my fans who are homosexual… who have alternative views… from your general assholeness and shitty attitudes.”

Eventually, the band issued a broader message of inclusion, writing:

“GOD’s invitation of LOVE… is open to EVERYONE… Obviously EVERYONE is invited to our events but leave the dividing topics out.”

Now, with “Slipping Through (No Kings)” entering the spotlight, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus appear to be redirecting the conversation with purpose. The track seems to reflect the anxiety surrounding immigration raids and heightened tensions across the U.S., including recent protests and military deployments tied to President Trump’s birthday parade and the “No Kings” demonstrations.
