AVENGED SEVENFOLD Members Score New Gold Record via Good Charlotte’s 2007 Hit “The River”

Good Charlotte’s 2007 single “The River”, which features guest appearances from M. Shadows and Synyster Gates of Avenged Sevenfold, has officially been certified gold in the United States. The milestone was recognized by the RIAA on June 20th, signifying over 500,000 units moved through a combination of physical sales, digital downloads, and streaming equivalents.

Originally released as the lead single from Good Charlotte’s Good Morning Revival, the track showcased a darker, heavier edge than the pop-punk outfit’s previous material—undoubtedly aided by the presence of two members from the multi-platinum alternative metal juggernaut Avenged Sevenfold.

In addition to the success of “The River”, Good Morning Revival itself has also now been certified gold. The dual certifications mark a major sales moment for the band’s fourth full-length effort, which helped usher in a new sonic era for Good Charlotte in the mid-2000s.

A gold certification in the U.S. reflects 500,000 equivalent units, with 10 digital song downloads or 1,500 on-demand audio/video streams counting toward one unit.
