Metalcore veterans Walls Of Jericho have premiered the official music video for their brand new single, “The Ascent.”
Directed by Mateo Torres, the video serves as the latest preview of the band’s upcoming album, System Error: Humanity, which is scheduled for release on November 13. The record will mark Walls Of Jericho’s first new studio album in a decade, ending a lengthy wait for fans of the Michigan metalcore stalwarts.
Speaking about the album, vocalist Candace Buckingham described it as the band’s heaviest and most aggressive effort to date.
“‘System Error: Humanity’ is a raw, unapologetic, and most aggressive record to date. We set out to capture the chaos, intensity, and raw energy of our live show rather than chase perfection.”
She continued by explaining that the album’s lyrical themes focus on individuality and resisting societal pressures.
“At its core, this album is about reclaiming your attention, owning your choices, and becoming who you were before the world told you who to be. Kill the noise. Reclaim yourself.”
As for “The Ascent,” Buckingham said the song reflects the challenges of self-growth and personal accountability.
“‘The Ascent’ is a crushing blend of dissonant riffs, massive breakdowns, and raw intensity. Lyrically, it’s about confronting yourself one hard truth at a time, shedding ego, silencing the noise, and discovering that real strength isn’t found at the summit, but in the discipline and honesty it takes to climb.”
The upcoming album will also feature several notable guest appearances, including Lamb Of God frontman Randy Blythe and The Red Chord vocalist Guy Kozowyk. Blythe additionally served as the producer for “The Ascent,” while acclaimed producer and Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou handled production duties for the album as a whole.
With “The Ascent” now available, fans can get another taste of what promises to be one of the band’s most intense releases yet.
