Wendy’s have taken their long-running connection with the emo and heavy music world a step further by releasing an entire six-song EP inspired by the culture.
Titled ‘Songs to Listen to in a Wendy’s Parking Lot’, the release was created in partnership with Rise Records and brings together members of Silverstein, Memphis May Fire, blessthefall, State Champs, Winona Fighter, and Holy Wars.
The songs put a decidedly Wendy’s-themed spin on familiar emo and post-hardcore concepts, with each track featuring a different vocalist:
- 01 — “She Said She Didn’t Want Fries” (feat. Matty Mullins of Memphis May Fire)
- 02 — “Salt in the Wound” (feat. Chloe Kinnon of Winona Fighter)
- 03 — “I Miss the Sunroom” (feat. Shane Told of Silverstein)
- 04 — “The Best Combo Meal on the Worst Night of My Life” (feat. Beau Bokan of blessthefall)
- 05 — “It’s Not a Phase, It’s a 10pc” (feat. Derek DiScanio of State Champs)
- 06 — “My Frosty’s Funeral” (feat. Kat Leon of Holy Wars)
Matt Squire, whose production and songwriting credits include work with Panic! At The Disco and Underoath, is credited as the primary songwriter across the EP.
Wendy’s have also rolled out individual videos for each of the six tracks, while the complete release is available through major digital streaming platforms.
The fast-food chain has previously cultivated an unexpected presence within the heavy music community, most notably through its annual National Roast Day social media campaigns, during which bands from the metal, metalcore, and pop-punk scenes have found themselves on the receiving end of Wendy’s trademark insults.
