Pennsylvania progressive metalcore outfit What Lies Below have signed with Solid State Records, marking the start of their partnership with the label with a new single and accompanying music video for “Return To Nothing.”
The track explores themes of grief, isolation and the struggle to move beyond painful experiences. According to the band, the song also serves as a thematic continuation of their previous track “I Let It Consume Me,” shifting its focus toward finding a way out of darkness.
The band collectively shared the following statement about the new single:
“‘Return To Nothing’ is written from the perspective of escaping the dark of ‘I Let It Consume Me’. The lyrics explore the struggle to escape a life weighed down by grief, isolation, and the burdens of the past. They follow a journey from darkness and despair toward awakening, with cracks in the darkness revealing glimpses of hope and a way forward.”
What Lies Below will next hit the road alongside Midwinter and Coldstate on the ‘Haunt Me Forever Tour’. The trek begins November 5 in Rochester, New York, and runs through November 21 in Lakewood, Ohio.
