Wolves At The Gate have unveiled “LAW OF THE (Waste) LAND”, the third single from their upcoming album Wasteland. The Christian metalcore outfit will release that full-length effort on May 30th via Solid State Records.
This latest single confronts the darker side of human nature and societal collapse. Vocalist/guitarist Stephen Cobucci shared the deeper meaning behind the track, explaining:
“The song is a reflection on a world and humanity that has lost its grip on true justice. But this isn’t anything new. History tells endless stories of war, genocide, and injustice and a seemingly endless list of atrocities. There is something terribly broken in us by nature that exalts self-preservation. I’ve seen it firsthand in my own heart.”
Cobucci also touched on the broader concept driving the song:
“We cry out for justice but live by vengeance, doing what seems right in our own eyes while blaming the fallout on anything but ourselves. In the Wasteland, we crown ourselves as judge, jury, and executioner, all while crying out for peace we can’t create.”
The track pushes listeners to reflect on what remains of the soul in a society that’s abandoned mercy and truth. “Can mercy still come to the merciless?”, Cobucci asks.
