Necromantic black doom metal outfit Worm have unveiled their latest single, “Blackheart,” accompanied by a new video as part of their ongoing Necropalace short film series. Released today, December 17th, the visuals continue the band’s fascination with ’80s and ’90s horror aesthetics, brought to life by director Norman Carbera (Danzig, Fright Night II).
Vocalist Phantom Slaughter shared insight on the track:
“We consider this to be a gothic vampire love ballad. It shares a different kind of emotion and color than the rest of the record. The lyrics explore the isolation and loss one feels as a child of the night. Musically, ‘Blackheart’ fuses Avant-garde Katatonia influences with Fields Of The Nephilim-inspired atmospheres and icy AOR nods from FM (UK), Strangeways, and Harem Scarem. We also include touches from our Floridian heritage with frozen swamp elements reminiscent of Death (Symbolic) and Crimson Glory.”
The track comes ahead of Worm’s new album, “Necropalace,” which is set for release on February 13th via Century Media.
