Teenage hardcore newcomers XCOMM have officially announced their debut album, ‘Time To Burn’, arriving May 22nd.
The rising band tracked the record with legendary producer Ross Robinson — widely regarded as the godfather of nü-metal for his early work with Korn, Slipknot, and numerous influential heavy acts. Robinson’s résumé also stretches beyond the genre, having produced releases for Glassjaw, The Cure, and others throughout his career.
The project marks a notable collaboration for the young group, whose lineup includes drummer Revel Ian, son of Anthrax and Mr. Bungle guitarist Scott Ian.
Robinson’s involvement extended beyond production duties. ‘Time To Burn’ will be released through Blowed Out Records, a label jointly run by Robinson alongside Ghostemane and Bill Armstrong.
Despite Robinson’s reputation for an intense and unconventional studio approach, Revel Ian described the experience in glowing terms, stating:
“Ross Robinson transformed us into musical weapons that will blow your head off when you play our record.”
Frontman and guitarist Michael Gatto echoed that enthusiasm while reflecting on the recording process and the band’s latest single:
“I’ll forever be grateful for having the opportunity to record this album, the whole process from tracking to mixing was truly incredible. ‘Borrowed Happiness’ is one of my favorite tracks on the record, shooting the music videos with Darren and all the dudes in the van was super cool and I love when we play this one live.”
Robinson himself shared his perspective on working with the young band, highlighting the energy they brought into the studio:
“Nothing brings me more satisfaction as a producer than sharing that undeniable life force of untainted expression… XCOMM, being the youngest band I’ve ever worked with, I had to nickname the studio sessions as ‘daycare.’ It was so fun and alive throughout the whole process. Made me realize on another level how important the pulse of youth truly is.”
The band have also premiered the Darren Craig-directed music video for their newest single, “Borrowed Happiness.” XCOMM’s lineup is rounded out by bassist Adan Escoto and DJ Hunter Grogan.
