Metallic hardcore veterans 100 Demons have officially announced their first new album in over two decades, with Embrace The Black Light set to arrive on June 05.
The record marks the follow-up to their 2004 self-titled release and was tracked at Silver Bullet Studios in Burlington, CT, with Greg Thomas and engineer Chris Teti, before being mastered by GRAMMY Award-winning producer Will Putney (Body Count, Better Lovers).
The album also features guest appearances from Colin Young and Taylor Young of Twitching Tongues and God’s Hate, with former guitarist Sean Martin (also of Twitching Tongues, ex-Hatebreed) returning to the fold, now handling bass duties.
The lead single, “Meat For The Beast,” showcases the band’s updated but familiar sound.
Frontman Pete Morcey said:
“As with most of the songs on ‘Embrace The Black Light,’ ‘Meat For The Beast’ was written and formulated in the studio during the last year. We mixed in a couple styles on this one blending 80s thrash metal and heavy pounding hardcore to give it the signature 100 Demons sound.”
Reflecting on the overall process, Morcey added:
“Writing and recording ‘Embrace The Black Light’ was an experience like no other. We were able to take our time and carefully craft every single song on this release. Working with Greg Thomas and Chris Teti at Silver Bullet made us realize we would not have been able to do this record without them. And with the guidance of Justin from Closed Casket Activities, we know they brought out the best of us on every level.”
