200 Stab Wounds are preparing to unleash their third studio album, ‘Lowest Form’, with the Cleveland death metal outfit announcing the record alongside its first single, “Pangs Of Conscience.”
The eight-track album is set for release on February 19 through Metal Blade Records. Arthur Rizk handled production, mixing and mastering, while James Bousema oversaw the artwork.
“Pangs Of Conscience” serves as the album’s opening track and first preview. According to the band, the song explores the internal conflict that comes with realizing you’ve made choices that don’t align with the person you want to be.
“This song is about entering a point in your life where you find yourself sometimes making mistakes that go against who you really are as a human, and having to find yourself again.”
The group also described the track as one of its most musically and lyrically dynamic songs to date.
While ‘Lowest Form’ remains rooted in the band’s death metal foundation, the new record will also find 200 Stab Wounds experimenting with atmospheric elements. The album is said to incorporate synth interludes and even a spoken-word passage.
“We are very excited to finally release ‘Lowest Form’ to the world. We’ve worked harder on this record than anything else in our lives. We’re really proud of this one, and we hope you guys enjoy it as much as we do.”
