British melodic metalcore outfit Acres have announced a deluxe edition of their latest album ‘The Host’, arriving November 6 via Solid State.
The expanded release will bring together ‘The Host’ and the band’s ‘What It’s Like To Feel Worthless’ EP, alongside several additional tracks and alternate versions. The band have also shared their take on HIM’s “Buried Alive By Love,” originally released by the Finnish goth rockers in 2003.
Vocalist Ben Lumber explained that the deluxe edition gives the band an opportunity to tie together the two releases while closing out the era surrounding ‘The Host’.
“‘The Host’ has always felt closely connected to the ‘What It’s Like To Feel Worthless’ EP, so doing a deluxe version felt like the perfect way to bring those two worlds together and close out this era of the band.”
The expanded collection will also feature acoustic, live and reworked versions of previous songs, including “Bloodlust” reworked by deletetheinternet.
As for the HIM cover, Lumber revealed that the band had a particularly personal reason for choosing “Buried Alive By Love.”
“When we were planning a cover, HIM were instantly the first band that came to mind. They’ve been such a huge part of my life and honestly one of the main reasons I ever wanted to be in a band.”
“When I was younger, my friends and I would spend hours in the garage learning and playing HIM songs so getting to bring ‘Buried Alive By Love’ into the world of Acres all these years later feels like a proper full circle moment.”
The deluxe edition of ‘The Host’ will contain the following new material:

Acres are also set to hit the road with Thousand Below, VCTMS and Lost In Separation this month.
