Ex-The Amity Affliction Member Ahren Stringer Appears In Court Over Driving Charges

Former The Amity Affliction bassist/vocalist Ahren Stringer has reportedly appeared in court in Australia to face multiple charges tied to an alleged incident from last year.

According to Blunt, Stringer appeared in Benalla Magistrates’ Court on April 21, where he faced five charges listed as:

• Drive at a speed dangerous
• Exceed speed limit by 45 km/h or more
• Refuse preliminary breath test
• Refuse to undergo preliminary oral fluid test
• Use vehicle not in a safe or roadworthy condition

Citing court records, the report states the charges stem from an incident in the Benalla region of Australia during 2025. No plea has reportedly been entered at this stage, with the matter adjourned until May 26.

Stringer’s legal issues come after his split from The Amity Affliction, who reportedly parted ways with the longtime member in February 2025. Legal action connected to the separation was said to follow soon after.

In May 2025, Stringer launched a new project titled Self Checkout alongside former Volumes vocalist Gus Farias. The band was described as an outlet centered around their struggles with addiction and mental health.

Later that same year, Stringer was hospitalized following what was described as a serious and unexpected emergency.

Meanwhile, The Amity Affliction have moved forward creatively, recently releasing their first album without Stringer, ‘House Of Cards’. However, reports have suggested that financial and business matters between the two sides may still be unresolved.
