    Ahren Stringer Speaks Out on Departure from The Amity Affliction

    Following The Amity Affliction’s official confirmation last week that longtime vocalist/bassist Ahren Stringer is no longer part of the band, Stringer has now addressed the situation directly.

    The Australian metalcore outfit initially announced Stringer’s hiatus in early 2024, citing his need to focus on addiction and mental health. Despite stating in September that he was “happy, sober, and thriving” and planned to return to touring, uncertainty remained regarding his status. That uncertainty was put to rest on February 14th, when The Amity Affliction confirmed he was no longer with the band.

    Over the weekend, Stringer took to Instagram to make it clear that the decision was not mutual, stating:

    “Not tryna start anymore shit BUT I have been kicked out of my band. I will NEVER play with The Amity Affliction (who blocked me btw) love you all x.”

    His post follows previous comments he shared that suggested a bitter split. While the band cited a breakdown in relationships and his disinterest in touring as key reasons for his departure, Stringer’s own statements paint a different picture.

    As of now, The Amity Affliction plans to move forward with new music and touring, while Stringer’s future musical endeavors remain to be seen.

      Tour non stop for a decade and wonder why these incredible creatives can’t catch a moment for their own stability.

        AJ Gogas I truly believe that it was meant to be temporary before Ahren started spouting out all of the hate towards the other members. Ahren even said himself that it was just supposed to be for 2025 when it happened.

      Screaming vocals can be replaced, Ahren’s clean vocals is what gave TAA its sound.. you can’t replace or replicate that

      What I find hardest as a fan (aside from the band I adore changing or ending) is that we fans never really truly know what the balanced story is. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a band announce that a member has left / been booted, and that member corroborating the narrative. It’s always different. So we’re left never really knowing what has actually happened and why the decisions have been made.

      In this case I’m reading that Ahren really stood by Joel when the shoe was on the other foot and I am seeing a lot of fans saying what a piece of work Joel is to go through something similar and not be booted in the past only for Ahren to not be afforded the same treatment?

      But then it’s also just as easy to read how Ahren apparently keeps letting the band down, costing them huge touring opportunities and so on.

      We form huge emotional attachments to bands we love so when this happens it’s really difficult when you never find out what really happened and why it’s over. This band has been dogged with the issues of personal problems, addiction, wayward behaviour etc so I knew this day could come one day as all the ingredients were there for years. Truly gutted.

        Rollo Allen heaps of bands have done the same thing, the only reason we get a one sided narrative is because the remaining members of the band dont want to lose the “fans” they want to continue playing using the legacy of the departed member, they want to make more money in the name of the departed member, they want the departed member to be forgetting while they bath in the glory of the departed member that they have removed. Bands like this should be boycotted and shown zero support. I’ll follow Ahren, but Amity won’t be getting a second of my time anymore.

        I refuse to listen to thy art is murder anymore after they kicked CJ out.
        Little bit of a different example but Linkin Park is impossible to listen to for me anymore, using someone else’s legacy and butchering it all for money

        Rollo Allen welp the last couple albums the songs were hard to define. The taste was becoming sour and the same over and over. Id be Over it too

        Rollo Allen it’s simple, the band is owned between Ahren and Joel 50/50. Joel’s had a history of being toxic and impossible to be around because of his mental health issues. This has lead to over 15 members either being pushed out or leaving due to their own mental health being impacted. This late in their career Joel wants 100% of the money. So it’s easy to use whatever excuse to Push Ahren out and try and take it all. Everyone should be standing behind Ahren as He was just thrown under the bus by Joel.

          That’s not how shareholders and ownership works. Kicking somebody out of the band doesn’t remove their ownership stake nor change how much money they’re entitled to. That is a stupid take.

          The real reason he got kicked was because regardless as to whether his grievances were legitimate or not, Ahren has spent the past 8 months endlessly publicly trashing his own brand on social media and publicly attacking his colleagues AND their family members too. That will get you fired from any job and rightfully so and no matter how much ownership you hold because your drama devalues everybody’s investment.

          Don’t air your private dirty laundry in public and attach your brand to it.

        Rollo Allen you never will, as someone who works with artists and plays along side with them. You gotta understand “us, the fans” are the final dimension of the structure. The truth is we don’t know these people. As fans we consume the end result “the music and the product of the band”. What we don’t see is management, personal relationships, business relationships, mental health, money disputes, record label contracts, social media, road crew, endorsements, contracts, death of family members. The list goes on. What we see is 5 cool tattooed people on stage performing. People we want to represent because we find solace in their music and style. That’s why we dress a certain way get tattooed the same way. But at the end of the day as much as we feel we have a connection to there art, the art is maybes 15% of being in a band. Now some people might say that 15% is absolutely everything. As an artist I agree it is. But fact of the matter is, unless you’re within the circle you’ll never know. All this is doing is creating hype. We are talking about it right now! Both artists will be fine.

          Rollo Allen it’s what you should be saying. The clowns at the head of this vanilla band have been useless sooks since day 1. They were acting like superstars when they were playing to 15 people in the back room of regional pubs and the music only got worse from there.

          Go listen to something original instead of music for girls that pretend to like heavy music.

      Nothing lasts forever. We had so many years of good times with them. Nobody can be bitter about it ending. Not without my ghost being absolute pinnacle of their career and artistic ability. Their music will always be there to listen to. Just move on and be grateful you got to experience it while you did and that it was all amazing and nothing less than that.

      Love TAA. Been around since I was a tadpole. But the last couple of albums and themes…. and the ocean were just all so repetitive. Maybe now they will produce a new flavour or become another legacy band, who knows. But thanks for the time Ahren. HIGH HOPES !

          Can’t begin to imagine how they must feel knowing now they were sharing a stage with such a despicable person.

      I just started listening to the amity affliction last year and their music has helped me through so much and I seen them live last year to they are my favorite band and it’s very upsetting about the split up it’s definitely not going to be the same no matter who replaces him I don’t care what anyone says I was really looking forward to going to another one of their concerts again but now I don’t know if I want to.

      I will never actually accept The Amity Affliction anymore, and I’m not just saying this as a heartbroken long time fan who found comfort in their music during my lowest points in life, but as someone who strongly feels that the band should break up since they don’t have original members anymore. Yeah you can say Joel was there from the beginning, but he wasn’t in until their first album if I’m not mistaken. This was Ahren’s band as far as I’m concerned. But honestly it’s like if Black Sabbath lost Tony Iommi during the mid to late 80s after he was basically the only original member up until their full on Ozzy era reunion with the 3 other founding members.

      I just can’t do it. It’s not the same and honestly I would respect them if they just realized this and went to start another band.

      I would think that that’s not a bad chapter to close on for their 20 year long career. They had an incredible run of Metalcore/Post Hardcore albums.

          Matt Steinhauser but it’s not the livelihood they started nor will it barely ever resemble that livelihood ever again. Ticket and album sales will plummet, streaming numbers will take a nose dive so big that you’ll need the side of a skyscraper to properly chart those numbers on a big enough graph…

          Jordan Gallaher every upcoming US tour date is sold out or nearly sold out, VIPs all sold out…they had already announced Ahren wouldn’t be on this run. Members leave bands all the time…life goes on!

        Jordan Gallaher they released their own statement as to why Ahren isn’t in the band anymore. It is their livelihood when Ahren refuses too tour and then gets to fucked up to preform while they are touring and they need to cancel shows last minute

          Jordan Gallaher I didn’t deny anything 😂. I didn’t even say anything about their music. All I said was your very strong personal “feelings” aren’t based in reality. You listen to the music, they are the music. They have personal “feelings” too and lives of their own and there’s things you would never understand, any of us for that matter, unless you were one of them. So chill out dude. Give it six months, see what happens, then go from there.

        Jordan Gallaher if ahren cared he would of chose to do shows instead of getting drunk or high and skipping them. He needs help. There’s plenty of bands who reformed under the same band name with different members and were just as successful. Alice in Chains, Acdc, queen, I can give you lots of more examples

        Ryan Molloy well I mean Let the Ocean Take Me anniversary tour was shit. There was no chemistry on stage and they didn’t engage the audience at all, so bit of a waste of money. I always hated Joel, he always seemed to take the limelight with his clean “singing” 😆😬

      I saw them with the temporary replacement last year. The replacement was just “ok.” He sounded like he came from a punk band, did his best and all that… but he wasn’t right for the part. Is that guy still with them or did they find another fill in? I hate that Ahren isn’t coming back, but I do hope they continue if they find a suitable voice to fill in.

      Nah TAA is cooked. Ahren was the heart and soul of this band. Been a long time fan but after hearing this, I won’t be supporting any new music coming out. Change your name, Don’t keep disrespecting Ahrens legacy by continuing to use TAA. Do better. The Amity Affliction
