Attack Attack! drummer and keyboardist Andrew Wetzel revealed that his storage unit was recently broken into, though the incident ended with an unexpected twist: the band’s merchandise was left untouched.
In a video shared on July 21, Wetzel explained that he spent time sorting through the contents of the unit after discovering the break-in, trying to determine whether anything had been stolen.
Fortunately, he doesn’t believe any major items are missing. However, he wasn’t thrilled to find the unit left in disarray.
“Someone broke into my storage unit last night, and I just spent like 35 minutes out in the sweltering heat sweating my absolute ass off trying to figure out if they stole something. And I don’t know if they did, and let me be clear, I’m thankful for that, that I don’t think that anything’s missing.”
Wetzel noted that numerous personal belongings had been moved around, including items connected to his late dog, which he described as especially upsetting.
“Everything’s all messed up, including my poor deceased dog’s stuff was strewn everywhere, which is highly disrespectful.”
Despite the frustration, Wetzel couldn’t resist poking fun at the fact that whoever entered the unit apparently had no interest in taking any Attack Attack! merchandise.
“You looked at all that Attack Attack! shirts, all the vinyls and CDs and shirts didn’t sell, and you were like, ‘God, what a loser,’ and then you just left all my stuff. So you know what? Thank you. I needed that.”
The self-deprecating joke quickly resonated with fans online, with many finding humor in the drummer’s ability to laugh at an otherwise frustrating situation.
