Former King Diamond guitarist Andy LaRocque has publicly addressed his recent departure from the legendary heavy metal outfit, days after the band announced that he had parted ways with the group after more than four decades.
Last week, King Diamond confirmed that LaRocque and the band had mutually agreed to separate, while simultaneously revealing Gus G. (Firewind, ex-Ozzy Osbourne) as his replacement. The band emphasized that the split was amicable and expressed gratitude for LaRocque’s enormous contributions to the group’s legacy.
Now, LaRocque has shared his own thoughts on the decision, describing it as a difficult but respectful transition after spending over 40 years with the band.
“Leaving a ‘family’ after more than 40 years full of great music, friends and lots of good memories is not an easy decision but we mutually decided to part ways in a respectful and friendly manner wishing each other the absolute best for the future!”
The guitarist also revealed that his focus will now shift toward future projects, including writing new material and performing with Lex Legion.
“Now is the time for me to move on with full focus and write some more music and play live with Lex Legion.”
LaRocque joined King Diamond in 1985 and remained a fixture of the band’s lineup throughout its most celebrated eras, contributing to countless albums and helping define the group’s signature sound. His departure marks the end of one of the longest-running partnerships in heavy metal.
Closing out his message, LaRocque thanked fans for their continued support and expressed optimism for the future.
