Justin Sane, former vocalist of the now disbanded, Anti-Flag, reportedly left the United States amid legal issues and numerous allegations of sexual assault. Pittsburgh City Paper‘s report on March 29th claimed confirmation of his departure, sourced from Kristina Sarhadi, his prominent accuser.
Sarhadi‘s initial anonymous accusation of sexual assault against Sane last summer led to the band’s dissolution. Her claims dated back to 2010 and were made possible by the Adult Survivors Act in New York, extending the statute of limitations for such claims.
Following Sarhadi‘s public accusations, 12 other women came forward with disturbing allegations spanning from the 1990s. Sane denied Sarhadi‘s allegations, while his former bandmates condemned his actions, claiming ignorance.
Sarhadi pursued legal action against Sane and the band, filing a civil lawsuit alleging sexual assault and negligence by Hardwork Distribution Inc., the band’s business.
In March, Sarhadi amended her complaint after failed attempts to serve Sane with the suit. The amendment aimed to involve Sane‘s sister as a representative to advance legal proceedings.
