RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE’s Tom Morello & EVANESCENCE’s Amy Lee Join ‘No Kings Day’ Protests Opposing Trump, ICE & Fascism

Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine) and Amy Lee (Evanescence) were among the prominent musicians who took to the streets this past weekend as part of the ‘No Kings Day’ protests held across the U.S. on June 14th. The nationwide demonstrations were organized in opposition to former President Donald J. Trump, his administration’s policies, and a military parade commemorating the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army — an event that also coincided with Trump’s 79th birthday.

No stranger to activism, Morello continues to be a fierce advocate for human rights, labor movements, and anti-authoritarian causes. Just last month, he voiced support for students at Harvard University, his alma mater, and participated in anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles. On Saturday, he was once again out in the streets of L.A., amplifying the message of resistance with one of the most iconic protest lyrics in heavy music history: “F*ck you, I won’t do what you tell me!” — a defiant rallying cry from Rage Against The Machine’s 1992 anthem “Killing In The Name”.

Morello later shared footage and photos from the protest on his social media, writing:

“ARREST THE PRESIDENT. When the oligarchs & racists decided American Fascism was their plan and occupied L.A. they picked the wrong muthaf*ckin’ city to come after! HUGE celebration of resistance last Saturday in the streets.”

He is set to return to the stage tonight, June 16th, in Los Angeles for a benefit concert supporting the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights.

Meanwhile, Amy Lee also took part in her local ‘No Kings Day’ protest, reportedly held in the Nashville, TN area. The Evanescence frontwoman has become increasingly vocal about social issues in recent years, and posted a photo from the demonstration via her Instagram story.
