Canadian technical death metal force Archspire have made a bold move by going fully independent for their next album — and it’s already paying off in a big way. The band’s recently launched Kickstarter campaign has blown past its initial $174,000 CAD goal, with current pledges sitting at over $286,000 CAD.
The funds will cover key costs related to the album’s creation and rollout — including studio time, travel, production, and merchandise. In an effort to be transparent, the band shared a detailed budget breakdown via the campaign page, showing exactly how the money will be used.
However, that level of transparency has come with its own set of challenges. In a newly posted video, guitarist Dean Lamb responded to criticism the band has faced regarding the proposed budget. You can watch his full explanation below.
