Gold-certified rock outfit Asking Alexandria took to the stage in Long Beach, CA this past Sunday, July 27th, for another stop on the 30th anniversary run of the ‘Vans Warped Tour’—and once again, the set was livestreamed for fans around the world.
This performance came just weeks after their heavily criticized appearance at the Washington, DC stop of the tour, held at the RFK Stadium Grounds. That earlier set, also livestreamed, sparked an online uproar. Fans took to social media in droves, blasting the band’s lackluster performance and calling for vocalist Danny Worsnop to step down.
Bassist Sam Bettley issued an indirect apology in the days that followed, and things escalated further when former vocalist Denis Stoff—Worsnop’s one-time replacement—publicly criticized his predecessor and eventual successor.
Weeks later, Worsnop broke his silence to explain what went wrong in DC, pointing to a perfect storm of complications: gear malfunctions, an unfamiliar sound crew, and personal illness.
Despite his hesitation toward livestreamed performances, Worsnop joined the band for another internet-broadcast set in Long Beach. Early reactions indicate it was a marked improvement from the DC outing. However, some criticism persists—particularly regarding Worsnop’s apparent use of backing tracks to handle the heavier vocals on older material.
