Phoenix, Arizona-based brutal death metal outfit Atoll are gearing up to unleash their next full-length album, ‘Death Roll Party 9000’, on January 15, 2027, through Unique Leader Records. To introduce the eight-track effort, the band have debuted a music video for “Weed Witch,” featuring Crown Magnetar vocalist Dan Tucker.
The collaboration finds Tucker lending his vocals to one of the album’s heavier offerings, while also making an appearance in the accompanying video, which was filmed in Denver. Atoll have described the track as an intentionally outrageous combination of crushing grooves, chaotic tempo changes and an equally ridiculous lyrical concept.
The band offered the following breakdown of the song:
“‘Weed Witch’ is one of those songs where we wanted to write something that was just absolutely disgusting but still fun. The song is built around a really heavy, slow groove with a bunch of tempo changes, nasty riffs, and huge breakdowns. The drums get pretty wild on this one, constantly switching between grooving, and those slower crushing sections that make you want to punch drywall Kyle style.
“The idea behind the song is a ridiculous take on modern internet culture—a goth OnlyFans witch who puts curses on dudes through Cash App and other digital payment platforms. It’s not really about money, it’s just making fun of how weird everything has gotten and how crazy life is right now.
“We were super stoked to have Dan Tucker from Crown Magnetar jump on this track. We’ve been fans of his vocals for a long time, and he absolutely killed his part. We were lucky enough to have him be part of the music video we shot in Denver too, which made the whole thing even cooler. Dan is an awesome dude and a monster vocalist, and we couldn’t be happier with how this song came out.
“‘Weed Witch’ is definitely one of the heavier, slower songs on Death Roll Party 9000, and it’s a perfect example of the kind of weird, chaotic, and heavy stuff we love writing.”
Tucker isn’t the only guest musician joining Atoll for the new record. Vehemence vocalist Nathan Gearheart makes an appearance on “Swamp Terror Alligator,” while Extermination Dismemberment members Vladislav Martirosov and Arseny Kovalchuk contribute to “Atomic Sunburn.”
The recording sessions also brought former Atoll guitarist Spencer Ferguson back into the fold for contributions to the album. The material was tracked at Filthy Swine Productions, with Wade Taylor overseeing the recording process. Miguel Tereso subsequently handled the mixing and mastering.
