Nepalese-American grindcore collective Chepang have shared a blistering new single, “Nirnaya,” taken from their upcoming full-length Jhyappa. The album marks the band’s debut for Relapse Records and is due out May 23rd.
The politically and personally charged band, who dub their sound “immigrindcore,” describe “Nirnaya” as a cathartic purge: “‘Nirnaya’ is about making the ultimate decision to finally kill all your inner demons and negativity inside you and to come out victorious.”
A performance video for the track—fueled by raw energy and chaos—has just been released and can be viewed below.
Chepang will be performing Jhyappa in full at Maryland Deathfest in Baltimore, MD on May 23rd, the same day the album drops. They’ll follow that up with a release show on July 5th at TV Eye in Brooklyn, NY.
