Mark Hunter, vocalist for Ohio groove metal veterans Chimaira, has revealed plans for the band to unearth a new collection of deep cuts and forgotten gems. The upcoming compilation, Creepers Vol. 1, will feature b-sides and rarities recorded between 2011 and 2014, a turbulent but creatively rich chapter that marked the final era of the band’s original run.
The compilation arrives digitally this Halloween (October 31st) and spotlights material created following major lineup changes, which left Hunter rebuilding Chimaira with a fresh roster. Discussing the release, Hunter commented:
“We’ve been working to bring you streaming versions of some of our rarest B-sides.
Back in the day, the A-side was the hit single and the B-side was the ‘extra content’ – experimental songs, non-album tracks, or covers. Usually, they sucked. Sometimes you’d get a ‘Breadfan’ or ‘God Save the Queen,’ but let’s not kid ourselves – you’re not getting that here. These are the songs that didn’t make our albums for a reason.
But if surviving the cutting room floor is a badge of honor, these tracks wear it proudly. Some fans love them. Others think we were right to bury them. Most didn’t know they existed.
Enjoy Creepers Vol. 1 this Halloween.
Vol. 1 focuses on 2011–2014 – the Age of Hell through Crown of Phantoms era.
We hope to release Vol. 2 soon.”
The eight-track release includes the following songs:
01 – “Year Of The Snake” (Dubba Jonny Mix)
02 – “Your Days Are Numbered”
03 – “Scum Of The Earth”
04 – “Clockwork” (Hunter Mix)
05 – “New Apocalypse”
06 – “The Dehumanizing Process” (2013 Slow And Low Mix)
07 – “Outshined” (Soundgarden cover)
08 – “Wild Thing” (The Troggs cover)
Pre-saves are now live via Spotify, with the full digital release dropping October 31st.
In addition to the new compilation, Chimaira have also unveiled a new ‘At The Movies’ merch capsule, paying tribute to iconic film franchises and studios such as Cannon Films, ‘The Shining’, and ‘Hellraiser’. The collection goes live at midnight on October 27th via chimaira.com.
The band will next take the stage for their annual ‘Chimaira Christmas’ concert on December 20th at The Agora in Cleveland, OH, joined by 200 Stab Wounds and Nunslaughter.
