Cleveland, OH groove metal veterans Chimaira have been hitting the stage more frequently in recent years, sparking speculation about a full-fledged return. When the band dropped a cryptic teaser video last week, fans were quick to hope for new music or a potential tour.
However, that teaser ultimately revealed a 20th-anniversary vinyl release of their self-titled album—exciting news, but perhaps not the full-scale comeback some had anticipated.
That said, frontman Mark Hunter’s latest post (March 22nd) might give fans something bigger to look forward to:
“I appreciate that so many were hoping for new music.
That is not off the table…
Your support for this release ensures we can continue to be self-reliant and create more art.
Don’t be disappointed.
Look at the big picture!Thank you so much to all that bought day one!”
Chimaira‘s 2025 touring plans:
05/16 Milwaukee, WI – Milwaukee Metal Fest
05/18 Daytona Beach, FL – Welcome To Rockville
09/20 Louisville, KY – Louder Than Life
10/05 Sacramento, CA – Aftershock

Dion Rahrig
Steven Bakle including The 2 TIOR anniversary shows in 23, Inkcarceration last year and the 3 gigs on Headbangers Boat, I can’t complain. I have Milwaukee Metalfest and LTL that I’m looking forward to! That’s inspiration enough to have me busting my ass in physical therapy so I can make sure I make them!
Now thats what I like to hear Chimaira
Fantastic 🤘🖤.
Gesh it’s already been 12 years since the last album. 😢
Then put on the fuckin table already!! LFG!! 🤘 🤘
Yeah buddy

Listened to em again last weekend. Still live the music to this day 🤟
lol k
With more than 2 members though?
Man that would be awesome 👌
Come on with it! Show these metalcore and death core bands how to execute quality metal from the generation that birthed and put them up on it ( pause) in the first place! 🤘
Orlando Watson preach, brotha!
Orlando Watson that’s what I told Mark. I said it’s not like the band is washed up, or couldn’t put out their greatest album ever.theyre still as capable as ever, and fans would tell them if they shouldn’t bother with it. We only want new music cuz we know they can still write it at their highest quality They should take a shot before it’s too late.
Derek Delisle facts! I don’t think they have to rush but while they’re riding this chimaira Renaissance wave and still relevant. Should definitely drop new music. That last album granted it wasn’t the original members; was bad ass too. The guitar work and transitions was sick AF! Sometimes music can be ahead of its time and I think that last one went over a lot of people’s heads.
Orlando Watson I liked.crown of phantoms.i bought it day 1, and that’s one of the last CDs I recall buying at my local fye before they closed. For the band just being Mark at the time, it really felt like a futuristic alternate take of the same band. It didn’t feel too unfamiliar, like it was totally pointless. Or in the case of some other bands, there will be the one album, that ppl would say it should have been under a different name/title. It had blazing leads. Way above the playability of Rob which was interesting to hear. Robs overall a more memorable lead writer(if you can hum it and make it catchy, than it’s good, was basically his take on one of the DVDs) so it was cool to hear someone play at that level doing all the crazy exotic runs and mode changes n stuff, it had fast, heavy, slow. Familiar electronics and keys parts which was always an important but understated part of chimairas foundation.i know at one point a few years ago Rob listened to it, but didn’t seem bitter, but was maybe a bit dismissive of it and I’d be curious to hear his take if he ever listens again. I still love age of hell, and the infection is probably my top favorite of their albums over the years, but crown of phantoms hit on all the parts that make chimairas great, and when it seemed the band was dead, it was almost like a tribute to chimaira, that was indeed made by ppl who where always fans of the band. I’ll always give credit to ppl who keep the flame strong when things fall apart or ppl go their separate ways. It definitely gets grossed over entirely but it’s a good album, and a good chimaira album at that. I’ve been hoping since COVID that we’d have an album by now, but I just don’t think it’s happening anytime soon. Even if they started now, it’d take 4 years cuz they’d be sending tracks back and forth and I get that Rob and Mark would want to take the time off, and do weeks of jamming in a room, cuz that’s how it should be, and I don’t think that’s happening cuz life has changed too much on all their ends, so I don’t see a new album coming honestly at this point
This excites me
