Alternative rockers CKY have released “Beware Of The Heartless,” a previously unreleased track featuring a guest guitar solo from their late friend and former Mastodon guitarist/vocalist Brent Hinds.
The song arrives as a tribute to Hinds, who was scheduled to join CKY and his band Fiend Without A Face for a UK and Ireland tour last year. Hinds tragically died in a motorcycle accident on August 20th, 2025.
“Beware Of The Heartless” marks the second CKY song to feature Hinds. He previously contributed a guitar part to the band’s 2017 track “Days Of Self Destruction,” which appeared on their album ‘The Phoenix.’
CKY vocalist/guitarist Chad I Ginsburg explained why the band decided to finally release “Beware Of The Heartless”:
“We were reminded that it was a year since our friend Brent passed away. Brent played a solo on a song we recorded called ‘Beware of the Heartless’ and I thought, ‘why would I leave this on my computer?’ Brent took the time to play on it and we loved him, and in honor of his passing, we were too bummed out in the moment to think about that shit, but I want to throw it out there because I don’t want to hold onto it forever. I want to let go of it and give it to everyone.”
The band also reflected on the tour they had planned with Hinds and Fiend Without A Face:
“This is the second CKY song to feature Brent’s guitar, following ‘Days of Self Destruction’ from ‘The Phoenix’.
“We were supposed to finally hit the UK together last fall, with Brent’s band Fiend Without A Face. We were all looking forward to it, but sadly that never got to happen.
“We miss you, Brent.”
