Gold-certified nü-metal veterans Coal Chamber and alternative metal outfit Gemini Syndrome have both dropped off this year’s Louder Than Life lineup in Louisville, Kentucky.
Interestingly, guitarist Meegs Rascón performs in both bands, though neither Coal Chamber nor Gemini Syndrome has issued a public statement regarding the scheduling change at the time of writing.
Festival organizers confirmed the update on June 10, revealing that Dead Poet Society, No Resolve, and Freeze The Fall have been added to fill the newly opened slots.
Coal Chamber had recently returned to the stage this spring for a short run of festival appearances, marking their first live performances since 2024. Those shows also came in the wake of drummer Mikey “Bug” Cox’s private battle with cancer, which had kept him away from touring activity.
This year’s Louder Than Life festival will take place September 17–20 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville and will feature headlining performances from Iron Maiden, Tool, Limp Bizkit, and My Chemical Romance.

Coal Chamber was the band I was looking forward to the most. I wish the band nothing but good health and a speedy recovery but I am absolutely gutted right now
Jeff Boyer Mikey Cox, their drummer, just got cleared to have cancer surgery. I was looking forward to seeing them myself, but I understand the need for the band to pull out. I am sure they will be back next year.
