Converge and Coalesce have unearthed a powerful piece of heavy music history with the release of their “Live At CBGBs” performance, recorded at the now-defunct legendary New York City venue back in 1996. The newly mastered set is available now on digital and vinyl, with proceeds going directly to the family of the late promoter and visual artist, Rich Hall.
In a joint statement, the bands shared:
“This is a tribute to our friend Rich Hall, who introduced our bands to New York City in the early days. We will never forget the profound impact he had on all of us in the underground music community.”
Hall tragically passed away in January of this year. His family launched this GoFundMe in his memory.
The tracklist features early, ferocious cuts from both bands:

02 – Converge – “Dead”
03 – Converge – “For You”
04 – Converge – “Antithesis”

Digital copies are up now via Bandcamp, and vinyl pre-orders are live through deathwishinc.com, with an August 08th release date.
CONVERGE vocalist Jacob Bannon offered a heartfelt message, reflecting on the origin of this release and its personal meaning:
“Rich took a chance on us when no one else would. That CBGBs show was one of our first real moments in NYC. Rediscovering the cassette of that night felt like fate. This release is more than a record—it’s a thank you. It’s our way of honoring Rich’s legacy and giving back to the family he loved.”
Bannon also detailed how the project came together after finding the original cassette in storage, working with Sean Ingram of Coalesce, Zach from GodCity, and Brad Boatright at Audiosiege to bring the audio back to life. The album art was handled by Pol from Branca Studio, who captured the energy and emotional weight of the moment.
All proceeds from the album will go to the Hall family—permanently.
