Dimitri Minakakis, original vocalist of the legendary mathcore unit The Dillinger Escape Plan, has stirred up speculation among fans after posting a cryptic Instagram story over the weekend. The clip, which showed a microphone set up in what appeared to be a recording or rehearsal studio, quickly got people wondering—could new music be on the way?
While it’s possible the footage was from a rehearsal for the band’s upcoming live dates, the timing and setting have reignited rumors about potential new material. As of now, no official announcement has been made regarding studio plans.
The Dillinger Escape Plan originally disbanded in December 2017, capping off a farewell tour that seemed to be their final chapter. But in 2023, they shocked the heavy music world by reuniting with Minakakis back on vocals—his first time fronting the band live in over two decades. The reunion was launched as a celebration of 25 years since their seminal debut Calculating Infinity, with shows across the globe commemorating the milestone.
Now, with that anniversary behind them and new dates continuing to surface, fans are left wondering: Is this just a victory lap—or the start of something more?
For now, The Dillinger Escape Plan have the following shows on their calendar:
05/18 Milwaukee, WI – Milwaukee Metal Fest
07/19 Mansfield, OH – Inkcarceration Music & Tattoo Festival
07/26 Denver, CO – Unhinged Festival
08/10 Fremantle, AUS – Metropolis
08/12 Adelaide, AUS – The Governor Hindmarsh
08/13 Melbourne, AUS – Northcote Theatre
08/16 Sydney, AUS – The Enmore
08/17 Brisbane, AUS – The Tivoli
09/21 Louisville, KY – Louder Than Life
10/03 Sacramento, CA – Aftershock
Whether these dates will mark the end of the reunion—or the beginning of a new chapter—remains to be seen.
