Asking Alexandria frontman Danny Worsnop has addressed ongoing questions about his role within the band, revealing that while he remains the group’s vocalist, he is not involved in its business operations or major decision-making.
The comments surfaced after Sumerian Records founder Ash Avildsen responded to one of Worsnop’s social media posts, jokingly suggesting that Asking Alexandria should be Worsnop’s primary focus and that the band should return to Sumerian Records, the label responsible for releasing the group’s first six studio albums.
Worsnop fired back with a lengthy response, stating that many fans misunderstand his position within the band.
According to Worsnop, he has no control over the business side of Asking Alexandria, including record deals, contracts, or decisions regarding the band’s future activities.
“You better than most should know that I never rejoined the band and don’t have any control or say or involvement in the business decisions or operations of the band.”
He went on to explain that he plays no role in label negotiations and would not be involved in any potential agreement between Asking Alexandria and Sumerian Records.
“If you want an Asking Alexandria album on your label, maybe don’t focus on trying to pressure the guy who wouldn’t be making that call and who’s name wouldn’t be on the contract and focus on the guys who would.”
The discussion continued when a fan praised Worsnop’s contributions to the band and suggested that he is the defining member of Asking Alexandria. In response, Worsnop reiterated that his absence from the business side of the group has no impact on his personal relationships with his bandmates.
“I may not be a part of the business, but that doesn’t change anything in terms of us being friends who love playing music together.”
He also suggested there may be benefits to remaining outside of the band’s corporate structure, noting that rejoining the business side would require additional meetings, emails, and votes on creative and financial decisions.
“I don’t even know if anybody wins if I were to rejoin the business.”
The remarks arrive after years of speculation surrounding Worsnop’s commitment to Asking Alexandria, particularly as he has continued pursuing his solo country music career. Some fans previously accused him of appearing disengaged during live performances and relying on backing tracks for harsher vocal sections.
Worsnop has addressed those criticisms in the past, explaining that he largely stopped performing screams live in order to protect his voice. He also blamed technical and production issues for the widely criticized Vans Warped Tour livestream performance that fueled additional scrutiny.
While his latest comments may surprise some fans, they offer a clearer picture of how Asking Alexandria currently operates, with Worsnop remaining the band’s frontman while largely staying out of its business affairs.
