Dany Lambesis, wife of As I Lay Dying vocalist Tim Lambesis, has released a statement in response to recent allegations that Tim assaulted her. These claims have been circulating online, particularly gaining traction on Reddit over the past few days. Some believe these accusations may be connected to the band’s recent turmoil and the apparent breakup that has been unfolding this week.
Dany offered the following via social media on October 24th:
“I am writing this statement to address the recent rumors circulating on social media regarding my husband, Tim Lambesis, and the allegations of domestic violence. It has come to my attention that false claims have been made, suggesting that my husband has harmed me.
I want to make it unequivocally clear that these allegations are completely false. My husband has never caused harm to me in this manner, and I am deeply saddened by the unfounded rumors that have emerged during this challenging time for his band. There has never been an incident that warrants such accusations. We have had our relationship issues like many other couples, but nothing to the degree of domestic violence or what is being portrayed online.
It deeply saddens me that I find myself in a position where I must publicly explain my personal life and relationship because of flat out lies. It is completely unjust that everything spread the way it did and nobody even considered my voice to be heard through it all. This is unfair to both Tim and I and our relationship.
It is disheartening to witness how quickly misinformation can spread and the impact it can have on individuals and families. I ask that you respect our privacy during this time and refrain from perpetuating these harmful rumors any further.”
In recent days, three members of As I Lay Dying have departed from the band. Bassist/vocalist Ryan Neff left last weekend, while guitarist Ken Susi and drummer Nick Pierce both announced their exits today.
Guitarist Phil Sgrosso has hinted that he will soon make a statement regarding “the current AILD situation.” This week also saw the cancellation of the San Diego, CA metalcore band’s European tour, which had been planned for this fall, following the wave of departures.
So far, neither the band nor Tim Lambesis has commented on the situation or addressed the recent exits. Dany, Tim’s third wife, whom he married in June 2022, has not publicly spoken about the matter either. She has previously performed with him in Austrian Death Machine.
Tim Lambesis made headlines in 2013 when he was sentenced to several years in prison for attempting to hire a hitman to kill his first wife. He pled guilty to solicitation of murder and was sentenced to nine years but was paroled in December 2016. In 2022, Lambesis reflected on his mindset during that time, stating, “I lost myself, I lost my way.” Since his release, he has remarried twice and trained to become an addiction treatment counselor.
