Renowned Music Agent Dave Shapiro Dies in San Diego Plane Crash

Renowned music agent Dave Shapiro tragically perished in an airline accident early this morning, May 22nd, in the Tierrasanta neighborhood of San Diego, CA. A passionate pilot and respected industry figure, Shapiro co-founded Sound Talent Group, the agency behind a wide range of prominent artists including Parkway Drive, I Prevail, Pierce The Veil, and many others.

Sound Talent Group confirmed his passing in a public statement:

“We are devastated by the loss of our co-founder, colleagues and friends. Our hearts go out to their families and to everyone impacted by today’s tragedy. Thank you so much for respecting their privacy at this time.”

Adding to the heartbreak, a former musician from the metalcore scene was also aboard the aircraft and had posted about the flight on his Instagram stories during takeoff. With next of kin still being notified, Sound Talent Group has asked that other victims not be named at this time.

According to CBS8, the plane crashed into a residential neighborhood, impacting at least 15 homes and multiple vehicles. San Diego Fire-Rescue reported several injuries on the ground, though no local residents were transported to the hospital. All individuals aboard the aircraft are said to have perished.
