DEALER‘s upcoming benefit show in Australia has been canceled following renewed backlash surrounding past allegations against vocalist Aidan “Ellaz” Holmes. The event, originally set for June 06th at Mo’s Desert Clubhouse in Gold Coast, was intended to raise funds for the cancer treatment of the band’s close friend Cain Perry. Support was slated to come from Kings At Heart, Insect, and Ocean Shores.
Controversy surrounding Holmes dates back to 2018, during his time with Alpha Wolf, when allegations of sexual misconduct led to his removal from the band. While police were reportedly involved, no charges were filed due to insufficient evidence. In the years that followed, Holmes again made headlines amid a mass departure of members from Dealer, with those exiting accusing him of mental abuse.
These past incidents resurfaced late last year when Dealer was included on the ‘America’s Rejects Tour’, alongside Attila, Butcher Babies, DED, and more. The tour drew public criticism, including condemnation from Alpha Wolf bassist John Arnold, who voiced strong disapproval of Holmes and members of Attila over past allegations. The backlash ultimately led to Oceano—originally booked for the tour—dropping off the bill before later announcing that they’ll be disbanding after a string of ‘farewell’ shows.
With tensions once again reignited, Holmes issued a statement in November 2024 denying all allegations and defending his handling of the legal process. Still, the announcement of the Gold Coast benefit reignited criticism, culminating in Mo’s Desert Clubhouse canceling the show.
The venue released the following statement via Instagram:
“MO’S DESERT CLUBHOUSE STANCE ON VIOLENCE
Yesterday we announced a show for a well known act touring Australia soon. Today, we were made aware of allegations of violence and sexual assault from members of this band, which is currently before the courts. In light of these allegations, we have decided to cancel this show.
Mo’s is founded on radical expression and radical inclusion—an ethos that doesn’t leave room for ANY form of violence, discrimination, abuse or hate. Our priority has always been, and will always be to our patrons, artists and staff’s safety and well-being.
On booking this show we were completely unaware of these allegations, and we sincerely apologise for any distress or pain caused.
To those who contacted us directly to discuss this, thank you for informing us in a mature manner. It takes time to deal with situations like this, and is a process to cancel a show. To those who abused our staff over the phone, sent threatening messages and violent content to our socials, a reminder that violence breeds violence, hate breeds hate.

In a now-deleted social media post following the cancelation, Holmes responded:
“The show has been cancelled due to the online backlash and the agent has decided to save face.
Given all the negativity around Dealer’s platform I tried to do something positive.
I say nothing and I’m guilty.
I say something and I’m guilty.This has been my ongoing battle for the last 7–8 years despite following the entire legal process properly. People I do not know or met briefly many years ago continue to show prejudice and lack of critical thinking and or emotional intelligence.
I am not an abuser.
But I am done with this.”
At this time, it is unclear if Dealer plans to reschedule the benefit or if the show will be moved to a different venue.
