Canadian deathcore veterans Despised Icon have dropped “The Apparition,” the third single from their forthcoming seventh studio album, Shadow Work, which arrives October 31st — just in time for Halloween. The song’s accompanying video was directed by Simon Marchand, marking the band’s first collaboration with him and Disjonctés Productions.

Lead guitarist Eric Jarrin shared his thoughts on the new track:
“We are really stoked to present this third single to all of you. ‘The Apparition’ holds a special place in my heart as it is the last song I wrote for this record. With the help of Alex for the arrangements, I allowed myself to push the melodic envelope a bit further and came up with one of the most crushing breakdowns on the album.
This song also marks our first collaboration with Simon and Disjonctés Productions. Not only did he understand the very personal lyrics of ‘The Apparition,’ Simon found a very artistic way to translate it into images while encompassing the energy of the band performing. Thanks for watching.”
Shadow Work features an impressive lineup of guest appearances, including Matt Honeycutt (Kublai Khan TX) on “Over My Dead Body,” Tom Barber (Chelsea Grin) and Scott Ian Lewis (Carnifex) on “Reaper,” and Misstiq on “In Memoriam.” The album also includes a massive gang vocal choir featuring members of Ion Dissonance, Beneath The Massacre, and Scorching Tomb.
