Disturbed Burger Promotion Dropped by Kuma’s Corner Over “Recent Events”

Multi-platinum nu-metal band Disturbed has become the center of controversy, leading to the cancellation of a promotional burger and cocktail event at Kuma’s Corner in Indianapolis, IN. The promotion, which was set to coincide with the band’s upcoming April 9th concert in Chicago, has been pulled by the restaurant chain, based in Disturbed’s hometown.

In a statement released over the weekend, the Indianapolis location of Kuma’s Corner clarified their decision:

“After the discovery of recent events, we here at Kuma’s Corner Indy have decided to pull the Disturbed burger and cocktail promotion scheduled to run this weekend. We sincerely apologize for this oversight on our end. The values expressed by this band are not a representation of Kuma’s as a brand. We are using this as an opportunity to expand our research further for future band collaborations. Thank you to our loyal customers for bringing these concerns to our attention.”

Although the exact reason for the cancellation was not disclosed, speculation points to David Draiman, the band’s outspoken lead vocalist, and his support for Israel. Draiman, who has familial ties to the country, has consistently expressed his political views, particularly his support for Israel, on social media. Last year, Draiman caused an uproar when he signed artillery shells intended for the Israel Defense Forces, inscribing them with an expletive directed towards Hamas.

This isn’t the band’s first run-in with controversy. Disturbed also faced backlash after allegedly damaging several Chicago Bulls championship banners during a hometown show due to their pyro effects.
