DRAIN paid tribute to the late Lou Koller during their performance at the July 26th stop of the ‘Vans Warped Tour’ in Long Beach, CA.
The Santa Cruz hardcore outfit opened their set with a cover of the classic Sick Of It All anthem “It’s Clobberin’ Time,” honoring Koller following the news of his passing last week after his battle with cancer.
Before launching into the song, vocalist Sammy Ciaramitaro addressed the crowd with a heartfelt message:
“Check it out, for the last six years we’ve opened every single set with the same song. We’re gonna change it up today. We’re gonna pay some respect to one of the many late heroes of hardcore. This goes out to Lou. This goes out to Sick Of It All. ‘Warped Tour’, do you know what fucking time it is?”
The emotional tribute was met with an enthusiastic response from the crowd as DRAIN celebrated the legacy of one of hardcore’s most beloved frontmen.
DRAIN’s performance was among the sets officially livestreamed from the Long Beach edition of the festival, and footage of the tribute has since surfaced online for fans who missed the event.
