Eidola have released a new standalone single titled “Purity Ladder,” which made its online debut today (February 12). The progressive post-hardcore outfit issued the track through their new label home, 3DOT Recordings — the imprint spearheaded by Periphery, who added the band to their roster late last year.
The single arrives alongside a music video co-directed by the band and Sam Halleen (HEALTH, August Burns Red), and marks the latest glimpse at where the group is heading sonically following their recent run of releases.
Vocalist Andrew Wells (also of Dance Gavin Dance) shared the following about the track:
“This song was written as a snapshot of modern time to convey a deeply haunting sense of brutalism. Angular, heavy, concrete, and imposing. Regarding the lyrics, take a look at the world around you. Don’t it feel like we’re heading toward some glorious utopia or an unimaginable hellscape? What do you value most in existence and why? Is modernity everything you hoped it would be? Or are you still angry, tired, overwhelmed, and absolutely fed up? Society consumes, regurgitates, vomits up lies, and distorts reality. Welcome to the ‘Purity Ladder.’”
The arrival of the track comes just ahead of Eidola launching their next headlining tour. The run will feature support from NERV and Astronoid, with select stops including full album performances of ‘Eviscerate’ or ‘Mend’.
