Former Fear Factory members Christian Olde Wolbers and Raymond Herrera have given their recently revived project a new name, with Angst Fabrik now operating under the working title Machines Of Hate.
Wolbers first announced Angst Fabrik in February 2025, with the project’s German name translating to “Fear Factory.” The choice immediately drew attention given Wolbers’ history with the industrial metal band and the long-running tensions between former and current members.
At the time, Fear Factory guitarist Dino Cazares pointed out the irony behind the name, noting that he had previously joked about the “Angst Fabrik” moniker himself.
There was also speculation that the project could eventually bring together several former Fear Factory members, particularly after Burton C. Bell and Wolbers were seen together in early 2025. Bell, however, later appeared to distance himself from the project, putting a damper on speculation that the former vocalist would be involved.
Interest in the project picked up again earlier this month when Raymond Herrera was revealed to have returned to the drums after previously stepping away from the instrument. Herrera recorded drum parts for the project alongside Wolbers, marking a notable reunion of two longtime Fear Factory members.
Following the announcement of Herrera’s involvement, the Angst Fabrik social media account suddenly disappeared. The reason has now become apparent, with the account having been rebranded as Machines Of Hate.
The project’s Instagram account now uses the Machines Of Hate name and lists Wolbers and Herrera as confirmed members. The account’s bio also describes “Machines Of Hate” as a working title, suggesting the project could ultimately adopt another name.
The new moniker also has a direct connection to Fear Factory history. “Machines Of Hate” was used as the title of a remix of “Self Bias Resistor” that appeared on the band’s 1997 ‘Remanufacture’ remix album. The phrase is also featured within the lyrics of the original “Self Bias Resistor,” giving the new project another clear link to Wolbers and Herrera’s former band.
Meanwhile, Fear Factory are preparing their own next chapter, with Cazares currently working toward the band’s next studio album. The record will be the group’s first without Bell, with Milo Silvestro having taken over vocal duties.
