This past Saturday, March 15th, Fire From The Gods performed a low-key show in Austin, TX, as part of the Traitors tour stop alongside Crown Magnetar and Yosemite in Black. Fans familiar with Fire From The Gods were met with an unexpected surprise—Myke Terry (Volumes, ex-Bury Your Dead, Cassius) was unveiled as the band’s new frontman. In addition to the lineup change, the band debuted two brand-new songs, leaving many questioning the circumstances surrounding AJ Channer’s quiet exit.
Now, some clarity has emerged, as Channer‘s partner, Brittan Taylor has shared an update regarding the former Fire From The Gods frontman. Channer had led the band from their major-label debut Narrative up until their 2022 release Soul Revolution, but it appears he has stepped away to focus on his mental health, family, and a new solo endeavor.
In her statement, she said:
“I want to say thank you to everyone reaching out to check on Channer AJ. Yes, the news is out, Fire From The Gods has a new vocalist. AJ and I have been through a lot over the past few years, and it was time to take a break and focus on family, which is exactly what he has done. I wish the guys in FFTG all the best and am looking forward to watching them continue to make music with Myke!
Dealing with our mental health issues, moving to a new state, and having the baby all at the same time… it was time for us to slow things down and focus on family. The last year has shown us how much we can grow and heal together, and I am in awe of how hard AJ has fought to get healthy. I am so unbelievably proud of this man.
We have our forever because we have each other. Keep fighting the good fight, baby.
AJ is now working on his solo project CHNNR and will be releasing new music soon, so stay tuned! 🖤”
While Fire From The Gods has yet to issue an official statement regarding Channer’s departure, it’s clear that he is embracing a new chapter in his career. Fans can look forward to hearing more from his solo project, CHNNR, in the near future.

Don Wallace Myke was the vocalist for Bury Your Dead for their self-titled record (2008) and It’s Nothing Personal (2009), before their new label forced them to fire him and bring back Mat Bruso for Mosh ‘N’ Roll in 2011. After that, he did some solo stuff before joining Volumes for their last three records, Different Animals, Coming Clean, and Happier?

I was at that show.. saw myke walking in to the show.. didn’t realize he was the new singer.. it was crazy be and another fan was waiting that’s not AJ.. AJ hair is different and he taller.. Myke held his own and it is epic.. AJ is and will always be epic also.. I wish him the best and deals with the demons. His vocals will be missed and I hope he comes back in what ever form
