Last month, California thrash metal veterans Exodus announced the departure of longtime vocalist Steve “Zetro” Souza and the return of former frontman Rob Dukes.
While Souza has yet to release a full public statement regarding his exit, he has taken to the comment section of Instagram to respond to fans’ questions about the lineup change:
Really no statement, I was let go , if you read the statement it says EXODUS has parted ways , not Zetro has parted ways !
When another user asked why Souza left, to which he responded:
I did not leave , I was let go !! Exodus parted ways with Zetro
Souza first joined Exodus in 1986, fronting the band until 1993. After a brief return from 2002 to 2004, he was succeeded by Rob Dukes, who led the group for nearly a decade. In 2014, Souza reclaimed the role, marking his second major comeback with the band.
