Christian metal veterans Extol have unveiled a music video for their new single, “The One And The Many,” which will also open their long-awaited new album, ‘Aura Of Decay’.
The record is set for a November 6th release through Solid State Records and will mark the band’s first studio album since 2013. The upcoming 11-song effort sees Extol continuing to explore the adventurous and technically intricate approach that has defined their catalog, while also revisiting some of the darker atmosphere associated with their seminal 1999 album, ‘Burial’.
A press release described the new material as follows:
“Musically, Extol continue their fearless tradition of charting unknown waters while retaining the distinct signature that has defined the band for decades. The songwriting, complex arrangements, and unmistakable sonic language remain firmly anchored in the adventurous spirit fans have come to expect.”
The statement continued:
“Furthermore, in a nod that will delight longtime supporters, echoes of the raw and black metal-tinged atmospheres reminiscent of their seminal album ‘Burial’ surface throughout the album.”
“The One And The Many” tackles the increasingly divided nature of modern society, with the song examining tribalism and the ways ideological thinking can influence people.
Guitarist Christer Espevoll explained:
“We are living in an era where truth feels relative, yet tribal dogmas seem to be strengthening. We wanted the song to mirror that confusion. It is an invitation to look beneath the surface noise of the internet and reflect on how sanctimonious religious and political practices are fed and kept alive by ideology.”
