Face Yourself—one of the latest additions to the Sumerian Records roster—have unveiled a video for their new single “Predatory”. The deathcore outfit is set to drop their upcoming EP, Martyr, on April 18th through the label. This latest clip was directed by the band’s own drummer, Eric DiCarlo, who has previously helmed videos for Signs Of The Swarm, The Browning, and more.
Speaking on the inspiration behind “Predatory”, the band shared:
“Face Yourself is proud to release our newest single “Predatory”, alongside the announcement of our new EP, Martyr, via Sumerian Records. “Predatory” is based on a modern story with some metaphoric images. It’s about going to a dance with a stranger and quickly finding yourself in a dangerous situation.
Martyr explores struggles through difficult mental health battles. The lyrical content on the EP is based on vulnerability and confronting your own demons. The record flirts between standing up for yourself but also slipping back into darkness—because mental health isn’t a perfect, linear journey. Sometimes, it takes a few trials to heal old wounds. With our producer Joey Sturgis, we tried to translate these themes through the impacts, melodies, and vocals, making those emotions loud.”
As noted, Joey Sturgis (Asking Alexandria, Of Mice & Men) produced the EP.
Martyr track listing:
01 – “Primal”
02 – “Predatory”
03 – “The Poet”
04 – “Saboteur”
05 – “Sideration”
Martyr is now available for pre-order here.
