    Flaw Drop Off ‘The Nu Metal Revival Tour’

    Nü-metal band Flaw has addressed their recent exit from the ‘Nu Metal Revival Tour,’ which features Josey Scott of Saliva, (hed)p.e., and Adema as headliners, with CORE and Makes My Blood Dance opening select dates.

    Rumors began to swirl about alleged issues with frontman Chris Volz, which were further fueled by the departure of the band’s bassist, Brian Carter. Carter chose to take the high road, addressing his exit with the following statement via Facebook on February 25th:

    “I wanna say a huge thanks to everyone who called and checked on me and messaged me yesterday! I’m healthy and kicking all the ass ! No need for negativity or bashing. Just know my work ethic speaks for it’s self and I have no time for bumps in the road.i know everyone wants to hear a long ass story about a wild ass adventure in the life of Brian Carter .. but im a professional and some things are better off left unsaid… on ward and upwards my soul has bigger plans for a KING . Just you wait and see … im going to the stars . Ready for my next opportunity to show the world what I got“

    On March 3rd, the band clarified that rumors surrounding alleged issues with frontman Chris Volz were untrue. Flaw explained that their exit from the tour was due to the loss of their drummer just before it began.

    The band explained:

    “Hey Flaw Family, we wanted to give you an update on our status. As many of you know, just a week before the tour started, we lost our drummer. We did everything we could to find a replacement and keep the tour going, but with zero rehearsal time, it just wasn’t right. After discussing with our record label, we decided it was best to head home and focus on finishing our upcoming album. This wasn’t an easy decision.

    We realized that trying to bring in strangers with no rehearsal time wasn’t fair to anyone, especially our fans who deserve nothing less than the best. We’ve decided to pause all future touring until after the album is completed and released. (This summer). Volz, Wepfer, and Marple will continue working on the album, which already has 20 songs, 12 of which will make the final cut. We regret having to cut the tour short, but it was the right call.

    The NuMetal Tour will continue as scheduled, so please go out and support the other bands! We look forward to seeing all of you after the album drops, with a solid, rehearsed rhythm section. We love you all and appreciate your decades of unwavering support! #FlawFamilyForever”

          Josh Westmorland seriously never heard of them. I was never a new metal fan other than Deftones and Mudvayne, but they weren’t a band that I heard on the radio or headbanger’s ball

        Erock Mccarty I saw Flaw live when they were a young band opening for Sevendust, they were good back then. Hell I’m a Nu-Metal fan and even I find tours like this to be ridiculous. It makes the bands look pathetic and it makes them look like they are holding on to the nostalgic past rather than evolving as bands. There were great Nu Metal bands though like Korn, Deftones, SOAD, SlipKnot, Sevendust, and Coal Chamber who evolved as bands past the Nu Metal expiration date and to this day headline and perform at huge music festivals and concerts.

          Aaron Muntean, I’m a bit confused. Coal Chamber hasn’t released very much new music since Nu-Metal was at its peak, and they’re still performing the same Nu-Metal songs. What they have released, still follows the Nu-Metal formula. The same goes for SOAD. Much the same with Sevendust, the music style is still the same formula it always was. So I’m not sure how they’ve ‘evolved past’ the genre. Most of the bands you mentioned play 90% of their live sets with songs from that era when they perform as well, Slipknot being an exception, but after Iowa 99% of their music was shit anyhow.

          Justin Coble I’ve seen sevendust many many times they play all kinds of new stuff so not sure where you’re getting that from coal chamber and devil driver are the same singer coal chamber disbanded so naturally what they play now is old stuff. Singer has also been out for over a year at this point preventing new music to come out sevendust is just rock to me not nu metal but they get radio play with every new album and they always have at least 3 good songs on them for the mainstream. You’re definitely under rating 7dust by alot.

        Joey Burke Volz is a giant douche lol, I went out with them on ozzfest 2002 and saw him get his ass locked back stage more than once for running his mouth, the real FLAW died out a long time ago

        Jimmi Witherspoon they had issues with the Drummer. Kris Kohls was willing to cover the position, but Chris thought that was asking too much from him.

          Thomas Denham I think it’s got more to do with Brian leaving. Kris was cool to pull double duty. That’s the second bassist in less than a year I wanna say, with Josh Skellet dropping off after they toured with Union Underground last year. I dunno what it is, but the fan chatter seems to all consistently point to Chris. Flaw is dead in the water without a serious bass player. Juhrs left some massive shoes to fill, even just playing his parts, let alone trying to follow up and contribute in the way Flaws sound needs. Both those guys are solid players tho and I thought would be great fits. There seems to be something other than ‘work ethic’ at play here

      With flaw not on the bill I doubt I’ll make it. That was the tipping point. I’d seen them all except Josey anyways. Hed and Flaw more than once (Flaw a few times).

        John Rearick I’ve always loved Hed Pe since the 90’s. Flaws first two albums still are in my rotation for music. I just bought a ticket to the show and the next day flaw falls off. I worked a 14 hour day today and it wasn’t worth to go see Hed Pe play 8/9 songs and an hour drive.

      Drop off a tour when fans paid for their touring van. What a crock of shit. I will still play my cds as the music is good but I’m done with supporting the shows .

          Ernie Morrison How much bs that guy dealt with as a child is insane. If you look up the reasoning he made the song Whole, you’d understand why he’s always so back and forth on emotions with leaving a band to starting a new one to going back.

          What happened to him as a child while his mother did what she did is awful for a child.

      I’ve seen hundreds of shows and seeing Flaw open for Sevendust in 2001 was the only time I’d been absolutely blown away by an opening act.

      Their performance at the Moline show was the absolute worst I’ve ever seen. Didn’t even finish their set. Barely sang at all, like 5-10%. Volz aimlessly walked around the stage. The band was doing great, just Volz not being able to perform. Pissed me off.

      The one time ever that I saw a headlining band ridicule their opening band on stage . that’s like the golden rule of what not to do. It was shameful and embarrassing the way the singer acted. And the funny thing is the opening band had more people there than they did.

      They blocked me from their page for roasting them for posting drama about the drummer instead of new music. Chris will post “big things coming” in his reels in his old man raspy cigarette and whiskey voice. Dude doesn’t have it anymore. I remember thinking they were awesome until I saw them live and the guitar player was so blasted drunk, he spiked his Ibanez universe off the stage, thinking he looked cool, and not like a drunken bum with dreads trashing band equipment in a random sound check.

      I’ve seen Flaw twice. Once as a headliner in a small club in Augusta Georgia and the other as a co-headliner in Tallahassee at Floyd’s. They were great both times and their first record was really good. They could have been huge.

      I guess when you’re a CLOSER alcoholic in public and an asshole in private, you get PAYBACK. You’d think Chris would be able to see THROUGH THE EYES, but instead, he lives with rose-colored glasses.

      He had a chance to DECIDE, to own his mistakes, but instead, he chose to SCHEME, manipulate, and keep up the act. He’s a FINAL CRY for help, a borderline sociopath with racist tendencies, and has no problem plagiarizing other artists to make an album, all of which is easily found public knowledge.

      It’s all the WORST CAUSE, because instead of saying, “Congrats on sobriety, Chris,” we’re left saying, “YOU’VE CHANGED.” But no, instead, we fall into JUST ANOTHER LIE, and fans are yet again left DISGUSTED.

      We’ve seen his MANY FACES, and it’s clear that NOT ENOUGH of them are honest. We are not getting THE BEST I AM from Chris, so like most fans, we REFUSE to continue our support. We RECOGNIZE that shit’s OUT OF WHACK, and PAYBACK, like karma, is a bitch but deserved.

      Worse than Trapt better than hiding it, respect to all the former members that got away from this manipulative Trainwreck who refuses to change, such a waste of talent with no original members because of toxicity.

      When I was running my webzine and helping flaw out in 2010, Chris called me on my way back to school demanding to know what I did with his ‘good bowl’ and that I was ‘a thief and to never show up at a flaw show again’ (it was a blunt and it was my pot ftr)
