Governor Gavin Newsom Takes Another Shot at Kid Rock Amid Super Bowl Backlash

The announcement that multi-diamond-selling artist Bad Bunny will headline the halftime show at Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, CA has sparked plenty of discussion. While many rock and metal fans continue to hold out hope that Metallica will one day get the nod, conservative circles have voiced stronger objections, criticizing Bad Bunny’s supposed lack of patriotism and his outspoken views against former U.S. President Donald J. Trump.

Some conservatives even suggested that Kid Rock would have been a more fitting choice. That idea led California Governor Gavin Newsom to once again take aim at the musician, continuing their ongoing feud.

Newsom used his parody-style Governor Newsom Press Office account on X to respond to a post by Trump ally Nick Adams, who had publicly pushed for Kid Rock to perform the halftime show. Newsom wrote:

“Wrong. Kid Rock has been INDEFINITELY SUSPENDED from performing in California and as such he cannot perform at Super Bowl LX!!!”

The statement referenced an earlier post Newsom made on September 19th, where he mockingly announced that Kid Rock was barred from performing in the state. At the time, Newsom declared:

“Kid Rock has been indefinitely suspended from performing in California due to his horrific music.”

While the remarks carried no legal weight, they quickly spread online and intensified the ongoing back-and-forth between the governor and Rock.

As of press time, Kid Rock, a longtime Trump supporter and outspoken conservative, has not yet responded to Newsom’s latest comments.
