    Glenn Danzig Faces Criticism for Nazi-Associated Symbol on Tour Merch

    Glenn Danzig has sparked controversy over the use of an apparent ‘black sun’ (Sonnenrad) symbol on merchandise during his current tour. The emblem, historically linked to Nazism and still used by neo-Nazi groups today, has drawn criticism online as the gold-certified metal and horror punk legend wraps up his spring West Coast run. The tour, which features Down, Abbath, and Cro-Mags, concludes tonight (March 30th) at the Arizona Financial Theatre in Phoenix, AZ.

    Despite growing backlash on social media, Danzig has yet to publicly address the issue. His association with occult themes tied to Nazism has been noted in the past, particularly in 1990 when he promoted The Occult Roots of Nazism, a book exploring esoteric influences on the ideology.

          It was created by/for the Nazi Himmler for use in Wewelsburg Castle.
          That symbol, as depicted, is the Nazi’s interpretation of the “Sun Wheel”, an ancient symbol representing the sun, and found in cultures around the world.

          The image in question though (the Black Sun) is NOT an ancient Sun Wheel, and has never had a purpose outside of Nazism.
          Those that say otherwise are mistaken — either by accident or by intent.
          The Black Sun has no occult purpose outside of Nazism.

          Danzig’s use of it shows either: ignorance, complicity, or adherence to that ideology.

          TELL ME WHERE I AM WRONG AND GIVE ME EVIDENCE.

      This exact version of a sunwheel ain’t ancient, it was desingned around 1938+ as a floor mosaic at the Wewelsburg, which was a SS officer training facility.
      It is defintely a Nazi design and widely used in the german post WWII Nazi scene as a replacement for the forbidden swastika.

      Here’s a collection of zierscheibe illustrations of actual archeological finds. This *type* of symbol has definitive pagan origins. The one on Danzig’s t-shirt is extremely close to the Schwarze Sonne commissioned by Himmler for a mosaic at the Wewelsburg castle, but takes into account the Schwarze Sonne itself is extremely similar to some zierscheibe in the first place, and Danzig’s is actually missing one “arm”; Himmler’s had 12, there are only 11 depicted on the t-shirt.

      I’m not arguing for or against, a lot of people just seem to be horribly misinformed about the history.
