Green Jellÿ have become the subject of controversy following the firing of band member Micheal “Fr33to F33t” Snyder over a disrespectful meme shared shortly after the death of Ozzy Osbourne. The meme, which appeared on the band’s social media shortly after Ozzy’s July 22nd passing, featured a photoshopped image of the late metal icon holding a sign that read “One Day Sober.” It was quickly met with backlash.
Band founder Bill Manspeaker claimed he took the meme down immediately after discovering it, calling it “extremely rude.” However, tensions escalated after he posted a follow-up image tribute — seemingly AI-generated — featuring both Ozzy Osbourne and recently deceased pro wrestler Hulk Hogan, which further inflamed discussion online.

Screenshots of internal messages began circulating, with Manspeaker initially defending Snyder before ultimately claiming Snyder began harassing him and spreading misinformation. In a public statement, Manspeaker explained:
“He’s been doing an excellent job posting funny memes for years… but recently he posted a highly offensive video about Ozzy dying. I immediately took it down. Now he’s demonizing me and harassing me nonstop.”
Manspeaker also accused Snyder of being minimally involved in the band’s performances over the past decade and described him as someone more interested in appearances than contributing musically.
“He’s maybe played 10 shows in 10 years and doesn’t even plug in his bass… Everything was fine until I took down the disrespectful meme.”
He closed his statement by encouraging fans who’ve had positive experiences with him to speak up:
“Nobody should be treated this way for taking down a disgusting post about Ozzy.”
The controversy comes as Green Jellÿ prepare to headline the 2025 ‘Psycho Sideshow’ tour this fall alongside 96 Bitter Beings (ex-CKY), The Convalescence, The Bunny The Bear, and Ignominious. Local openers are expected to join the bill in each city.

We’re Direct Support on Saturday .
Wait I’m all for putting people in their place when it comes to Ozzy but Ozzy himself would have found that meme hilarious. But I get it. Lmao.
Bill Dozer probably, but…. too soon.
Bill Dozer Ozzy worked hard to get sober and stay sober. That meme suggest he wasn’t sober. Sobriety is not a joke.
What was the meme
Christian article says: The meme, which appeared on the band’s social media shortly after Ozzy’s July 22nd passing, featured a photoshopped image of the late metal icon holding a sign that read “One Day Sober.” It was quickly met with backlash.
They are an extremely offensive and vulgar band anyways.
Benjamin Leveque thanks!
Al Williams anytime. The only thing I have an issue with is the talking for thirty minutes before the set. I’m old and I want to go to bed lol
Holy shit, Green Jelly is as sawft as baby shit. 🤣
You should hear and see the shit bill manspeaker says and does live.
Josh Ellis Likens Not even if I had a free ticket.
What’s funny is they boohoo over a meme but completely ignore the fact that theres lots of people that have gotten stiffed on merch that they payed for. Honestly I thought it was only a few people but after this incident ive lost count on all the people telling their own personal stories
But it was okay for Amy Winehouse, Lil Peep, Juice WRLD, Whitney Houston.. etc. Not even an original joke and y’all some softies.
Jason Bob 💯
Jason Bob well uhhh, this people ACTUALLY overdosed soooo, there’s that part of it. And also, not a damn one of them was iconic as Ozzy, so there that shit too. Whitney is the only one you mention with NEAR the impact Ozzy had. The test, are totally forgettable music makers, especially peep. Addiction is no joke period but, to try and put ANY of those artist in the same tier as Ozzy….fucking shameful in itself.
Derrick Isbell okay calm down boomer. First off, no one compared them in ways of impact. Your hypocrisy still shows and you saying them being addicted or overdosed made them any less of a human so they don’t deserve the respect is so telling to who you are as a person. Fuck off.
Jason Bob ok ok, boomer? Tf you talking about dude? Sit the fuck down bro. And yeah, as far as impact, they had not a damn bit of impact in comparison and aren’t even relevant in the conversation at all bc, well they did die of overdose where as Ozzy, didn’t. So, that makes that entire comment completely irrelevant. Isn’t sad that’s how those people went? Yes it is, and should have never been made a funny meme out of it period but, lo and behold we live in the day and age of insensitivity of the internet assholes. Their passing is no less sad in any way bc yes, they were humans still, ones with problems that their peers and family should’ve tried a little harder to help them. Some are beyond help tho or just didn’t make it to the time to get to their recovery. Do they deserve the level of respect as Ozzy tho?? Naaah sorry but I think not. The man lived through many of times he should t have and still got clean and lived to be 2-3 times the ages if these young stars that got a load of money and drove themselves straight into the ground with it, literally. For them be even be mention in the same sentence as Ozzy is just despicable. Whitney, ok she had some REAL talent, and came from the same era around about. the others tho, highly forgettable as far as music goes. Especially peep. Meanwhile, why don’t you go learn what a fucking boomer is, bitch. You wouldn’t know two shits about who I am as a person, especially bc you clearly can’t tell that I’m no boomer for one. RIP to all of them but, don’t be trying to put those shit artist in the same tier, that’s all I’m saying. Oh yeah, and YOU fuck off, politely sir. 🖕🏻
Derrick Isbell I’m not reading all of that LOL – Still a hypocrite, cope harder.
You know, it occurred to me, in all of this drama. It’s really the Osbourne family that I should apologize to. I don’t know if they’ll ever see this, but I’m truly sorry if I offended any of you. We’ve done lots of dark humor on the Green Jellÿ page, and I never meant to hurt anyone. I’m actually an Ozzy fan, I even have a signed photo framed. I’ve seen Ozzy live three times. I thought Ozzy wore his issues on his sleeve, and thought it was inline with Ozzy’s sense of humor. Some of the Green Jellÿ fans didn’t feel the same. Again, I sincerely apologize if I hurt anyone.
