Green Lung have released a brand-new single titled “Necropolitan Line,” offering the second preview of their forthcoming album Necropolitan, set for release on September 11, 2026.
The London-based occult rock outfit’s latest track arrives alongside a new music video directed by Tracy Mathewson, featuring animation by Joseph Brett, expanding the band’s increasingly theatrical visual world.
The band described the inspiration behind the song as rooted in the real-life Necropolis Railway, a 19th-century London train line used to transport coffins and mourners out of the city. They also cited influences ranging from cult cinema to classic hard rock interplay in shaping the track’s sound and concept.
In their own words, the band explained:
“Is there a more fitting subject for a Green Lung song than the Necropolis Railway, a real-life train line that carried corpses and mourners across London in the late 19th Century? Mix in some inspiration from 1972’s London Underground-set shocker Death Line, a madcap neoclassical organ/guitar duel that evokes Richie Blackmore and Jon Lord at their finger blistering best, and a record Lung BPM of 180, and you have the second single from our fourth album.”
They added that the song will make its live debut soon:
“We can’t wait to play this one live for the first time at the Acid Bath show in Manchester on Thursday. Mind the doors!”
Fans can pre-order Necropolitan now via the band’s official channels.
