Holding Absence have officially announced a new studio album along with a major label move, signing with Sumerian Records following their previous run of releases through SharpTone Records.
The Welsh post-hardcore outfit will release their new full-length, ‘Modern Life Is Lonely’, on August 28. The record marks their first release under the new label and follows a trio of albums that helped establish their emotional, cinematic take on the genre.
Alongside the announcement, the band have shared a new single titled “Reflection”, which arrives with a Zak Pinchin-directed music video (known for work with Loathe and Bury Tomorrow).
Vocalist Lucas Woodland commented on the new track:
“We are ecstatic to release our new single ‘Reflection’, taken from our upcoming album ‘Modern Life Is Lonely’. This album is our boldest and most creative body of work to date, so we can’t wait for you to hear the whole thing in August! In the meantime, we hope you enjoy ‘Reflection.’”
A press release further describes the album as a deeply emotional exploration of grief, identity, love, and survival in an overstimulated modern world, touching on themes of loneliness, trauma, mortality, and emotional disconnection. Across its runtime, the album is said to trace a fragile line between despair and rebirth through recurring imagery of broken mirrors, fading memories, and fractured human connection.
