After a decade of shaping their identity with his soaring clean vocals, I Prevail have officially parted ways with founding member Brian Burkheiser. The platinum-certified metalcore outfit confirmed the lineup change this morning (May 15th) via a statement shared across their social media platforms.
“To Our I Prevail Family:
Today we share that we are mutually parting ways with Brian Burkheiser. This was a difficult decision, but we believe it is the right one and we are all grateful for the 10 epic years we shared together. We wish Brian nothing but success and happiness in his future endeavors.
Moving forward, Eric will continue to be the powerhouse frontman you’ve come to know and love. He’ll be backed up live by Dylan who you’ve seen in this role many times over the years at the shows we’ve performed without Brian. Rest assured, we will continue to deliver the high-energy shows that we’ve made a pillar of our band, and we will continue to perform all the bangers from our catalogue. All scheduled shows will go on exactly as planned.
New music coming soon…
See you out there.
Eric, Steve, Dylan and Gabe”
Burkheiser had previously stepped away from the band to address health issues stemming from Eagle’s syndrome—a rare condition involving an elongated bone or ligament near the ear, known to cause chronic pain and discomfort.
At the time of writing, Burkheiser has not issued a public response to the announcement. Despite the shake-up, I Prevail assured fans that all upcoming performances will continue as scheduled, with new music also on the horizon.

Why even be in a band if you aint going to stay in it for atleast 20 years.
Nathan Harper What a weird take. Sometimes life ends up taking you in a different direction.
Allison Everlith because the band is slowly rising to be big and its a career and also should be treated as a comittment if you are going to be in a full time band like this. If he wasnt fully comitted then he shouldnt of stayed long knowing what was to come. It only lets the bandmates down and fans. None of this is relevent now tho because i heard its also because his health issues so its understandable
Nathan Harper But he WAS fully committed when they started 10 years ago and then LIFE. Nobody knows what tomorrow brings let alone 10, 15, 20 years from now. It’s weird to think you should only start something if you intend to stick with it forever.
Nathan Harper you can fully commit to something with the intent sticking around, but also life can also quickly turn around and kick you kn the ass, you can’t predict what’s gonna in 20 years
Nathan Harper idk bro maybe things unexpectedly come up that you have no control over and his was his health. I’m sure your bitch ass quit a job after 2 days plenty of times
Nathan Harper has been battling eagles syndrome, an it probably came back.
Nathan Harper he has eagle syndrome which is quite painful..u cant commit to 20 yrs when u dont knw whats gonna happen
Nathan Harper He has health issues, mang.
James Lawson yes i have already mentiond my comment is irrellevent now in the replies
Nathan Harper the dude has eagle syndrome and has battled it for a few years. The guy is only 32 and probably won’t ever sing again. They didn’t do this out of malice, and he even said at the show we were at last year in Detroit that he didn’t think he would ever be on tour again after his first surgery, now he had a second and isn’t doing so well
Salvatore Coughbag if you arent going to read all the comments then dont bother replying my dude. Ive been mentioned the post is irrelevent now because of that. No hate 🙂
Nathan Harper dude is suffering from a disease. Don’t be a piece of shit
Ryan Michael for the 3rd time because i know you ppyl dont like to read the replies. I have said that the comment is irrelevent now because i read about the disease
There not going to be the same
Jen Curcio no shit. Doesn’t mean they won’t still rock your cock off.
Jen Curcio I agree, sadly 😔
New vocalist means new band
Aaron Briese Eric is still 50% of iprevail. Along with the other band members so no
KaRi Marie can’t wait to see how this one ages. Flagged it 👍😂😂😂🤘
Aaron Briese OkAy…how many bands have lost vocalists through death or another reason and continued on? The list is huge and full of prestigious bands, and I wouldn’t call I Prevail a prestigious band, but they’re a good one. The vocals may be slightly different and not hit the nostalgia mark for some, but saying they’re a different band is a slap in the face to everyone else in that band. They played at Sonic last weekend without Brian and the new lead sounded great. Glad for him, sad for Brian and his medical condition
So sad for Brian, it’s got to be tough at only 32 and now medically, not be able to do the thing you loved most
Huge. That guy sucked asshole
Jerry Ayuso let’s hear you
i sent you my last album
Who ready for a new singer to come in and the hate comments to floor like mad
Bambi Wells There is no new singer nor will be. Dylan ( guitarist) is the back up vocals and Eric is now lead. They already demonstrated live on stage what it will sound without Brian and truth be told, it’s not that different..
Casey Grave Morgan i know i will love it regardless but you know how it goes
Hoping for the best for Brian, hopefully his condition improves and can rejoin in the future.
wtf is eagle syndrome……bro all the best…so sorry to hear…
Kirk Bhaghan There are plenty of online search engines, even ones powered by AI to find that answer lol
Casey Grave Morgan I mean like this person
..no need to go ….
the best “soft” song they’ve done is deep end. Brian has a great voice
Honestly the Singer from The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus could totally replace him as a successor but at the same time he already has a cult following so it’s transplanting one champion horse to another
I’m very sad about this. My favorite band.
The band sucks so hopefully he finds a more musically competent band to play in
