Latin nü-metal outfit Ill Niño have postponed their previously announced Russian tour dates, citing a combination of a family medical emergency and “escalating war tensions” in the region.
The band had been scheduled to perform in Russia this summer, a decision that had drawn attention given the limited number of Western artists who have continued touring in the country following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
In a statement shared alongside the cancellation announcement, Ill Niño confirmed that the shows have been pushed back to 2027. The band also disabled comments on the post.
The band stated:
“It is with deep regret that we must inform you that due to a family medical emergency, and the current escalating war tensions, ILL NIÑO must cancel the upcoming Russian tour dates, and postpone to 2027.
We did not come to this decision lightly, as we miss all our Russian fans. Thank you, and see you all soon.”
While some international acts have continued performing in Russia since the beginning of the war, the number of Western artists willing to schedule dates in the country has remained relatively small.
Among the notable exceptions has been As I Lay Dying, who have continued to perform in the region despite criticism. Meanwhile, Silent Planet recently took a public stance against bands touring Russia, instead choosing to perform shows in Ukraine this summer in support of the country amid the ongoing conflict.
At this time, Ill Niño have not announced additional details regarding their rescheduled 2027 Russian dates.
