“Immigrindcore” Act Chepang Signs With Relapse Records, Unveils “Parichaya 2.0” / “Shakti (Force)” Video

Queens-based grindcore force Chepang have officially joined the Relapse Records roster, with their label debut Jhyappa scheduled to drop on May 23rd. Though rooted in New York, the band originates from Kathmandu, Nepal, and describes their explosive, genre-blending sound as “immigrindcore.”

Alongside the announcement, the band have unveiled a new video combining two tracks from the album: “Parichaya 2.0” and “Shakti (Force)”, offering a raw glimpse into what’s ahead.

Speaking on the partnership, the band shared:

“Chepang is really stoked and thankful to Relapse Records and everyone involved for taking us in as part of their family and roster. We are looking forward to the future and carrying on this ‘pursuit of understanding one’s authentic self’ through this video and the record.”

The album, performed entirely in Nepali, was recorded and mixed by Kevin Bernsten (Full Of Hell, Integrity). Guitarist Kshitiz Moktan added:

“This record is more personal — about trying to relearn everything about yourself, releasing all your negative energy inside you.”
