Imminence have officially announced their new album, Axis Mundi, which is scheduled for release on October 2 via Sumerian Records.
The reveal arrives just days after the Swedish metalcore outfit unveiled the medieval-themed singles “False Light” and “The Sword That Never Bends.” Rather than slowing down, the band has now returned with a third preview of the record, releasing the new track “Crestfallen.”
According to a press statement, “Crestfallen” showcases a more atmospheric and introspective side of the upcoming album. The song blends electronic textures, cinematic orchestration, immersive sound design, and the band’s signature violin arrangements, while frontman Eddie Berg delivers an emotionally charged vocal performance layered with subtle screams and darker undertones.
Imminence co-produced Axis Mundi alongside acclaimed producer Drew Fulk (Disturbed, Knocked Loose), while Henrik Udd (Bring Me The Horizon, Architects) handled engineering duties.
Guitarist Harald Barrett explained that the decision to release both “False Light” and “Crestfallen” in quick succession was intentional, highlighting the contrasting elements that define the band’s sound.
“Duality has always been at the heart of Imminence. Our musical expression is a conversation between darkness and light, violence and beauty, despair and hope.”
Barrett added that the two songs represent opposite ends of the emotional spectrum while serving as complementary introductions to the album.
“‘False Light’ and ‘Crestfallen’ embody those opposing forces more clearly than anything we’ve released before. They’re radically different in sound and emotion, but together they tell a single story.”
He continued:
“Our new album is not meant to be experienced from one perspective alone. It’s a journey through every extreme that defines what Imminence is, and these two songs are the perfect gateway into that world.”
